Before you fly

  • Register and get the IDs the CAA requires for your drone and flight
  • Check airspace restrictions: much of London sits inside controlled airspace and restricted zones
  • Get landowner permission for take-off and landing
  • Many London shoots need a licensed operator. Ask the owner if they offer one

How booking and ID work

  • Pick your dates on the listing and send a booking request.
  • Verify your ID once. Every renter does this before their first booking, and it stays on your account for next time.
  • The owner confirms, you pay online and you get your pickup time.
  • Collect the kit, shoot, and bring it back at the agreed time.

Frequently asked questions

Can I fly a hired drone anywhere in London?

No. Large parts of London are restricted airspace. Check the official UK airspace maps and the CAA rules for your drone before you book.

Who is responsible for flying legally?

The person flying. The owner hires you the drone; the registration, permissions and safe operation are yours.

Do I need to verify my ID?

Yes. Every booking on LighRent needs a verified ID. You do it once, it takes a few minutes, and it stays on your account for future bookings.

Is damage cover included?

LighRent does not sell insurance. You are responsible for the kit during your hire, so for paid shoots we recommend your own equipment or production insurance. Any deposit is shown on the listing before you pay.
